These two toads were in the drive way last night. The children had been out with their parents and when they came in they spotted the toads. Sophia and Cohen came flying into the bedroom to tell me what they had seen and to ask me if I wanted to see them. Of course, I had to get up and take pictures of their discovery. It was chilly out and I would not have thought toads would be out, especially since we have had several cool nights. I wonder if they were trying to warm up on the concrete or if they were heading to the house's underpinning to dig in for the winter? I don't know where they prefer to hibernate or when they go underground. That will be a good subject to research with the kids tomorrow when I am keeping them....the kids not the toads!
