One of the twins found this tiny frog in the grass near the blue berry bushes. They held on to him while I ran to get the camera. I was excited as I haven’t seen a frog like this before. I wonder if it is a tree frog? I’m not sure what type frog it is, but I will look it up and see if I can identify it. It is, as Sophia says, “sooo cute”. I’ve seen little toads, but never a frog this small. And, honestly, it is cute.
See how tiny he is! I found out he is the tiniest frog in North America…what ja’ know!
OK. The best I can tell by comparing pictures, is this is a Little Grass Frog. Davidson's Herpetology Dept. has a wonderful site for information, photos and the recorded calls of North Carolina’s amphibians and reptiles . I tried to put the link here but wasn't able to do it. Wait a minute...let me try something... Check it out....http://www.herpsofnc.org/herps_of_NC/anurans/anurans.html There, maybe that has it.
Wow! That is so neat! The Twins are very observant explorers to have found such a tiny treasure!
